SONIYA TECHNOLOGIES AND TRIMBLE ANNOUNCE SUPPORT FOR TRIMTRAC LOCATOR ON FAMILYLINK
Soniya Technologies partners with Trimble to add vehicle tracking
New Orleans, 14 March 2005 - Soniya Technologies today announced the addition of the TrimTrac™ locator from Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) as another device supported on the FamilyLink™ service.
FamilyLink is a location aware service for family members to quickly and unobtrusively know where your loved ones are when there is a concern about their safety,
particularly, if there is a natural or man-made disaster or calamity and your loved ones are away from you. They could be walking in the park, driving home from the airport, biking to school or any number of things that they do everyday.
Trimble’s TrimTrac locator is a complete end-user device that combines low-cost GSM wireless communications with GPS technology. It can be battery powered or connected to a 12VDC power. For more information, visit www.trimtrac.com
“The mobile phone display has emerged as a truly universal user-interface,” said William Dussell, director of integrated products for Trimble's Component Technologies Division. “With its FamilyLink service, Soniya has done an excellent job of exploiting this mobile display technology and supporting a wide range of location reporting devices, including the TrimTrac locator.”
When used in conjunction with FamilyLink, the Trimble TrimTrac locator provides an affordable solution for automatic position-reporting for personal vehicle monitoring, security and theft recovery – all from the convenience of your personal cell-phone which is rapidly becoming indispensable as personal communications devices.
Cell-phones are often used in times of emergencies to locate loves ones, young and old, or even reassure them that they are safe. If they are carrying a location-aware phone, which many will soon be as a result of the FCC’s E911 mandate, the concerned parent can either talk to them directly or, if that is not possible, push a button on their own cell-phone to find out where they are. The FamilyLink service will display the location of their loved one as well as a map. Additional features are also incorporated: alerts to inform the user whether a loved one has arrived or left a location safely; where the pet was before the signal was lost; whether the teenager was speeding in a car and so on.
FamilyLink provides “peace of mind” for the busy and very mobile family.
With the inclusion of Trimble’s TrimTrac locator, the users will now be able to track the whereabouts of their cars as well as loved ones or pets from their personal handheld phones. The TrimTrac locator expands FamilyLink to include cars, trucks and vehicles in general.
Soniya Technologies developed “FamilyLink service as an illustration of the power and flexibility of Soniya Technologies’ Universal Device Service Platform (uDSP).
uDSP is developed as a service platform for wireless operators to quickly add wireless sensor-based devices to their wireless service. The platform is designed to support as many types of devices as available in the market and enables to operator to easily focus on the device needs of targeted market segments instead of spending time developing the platform. This service is then accessible by the user through a single user interface on their cell-phone or via the internet.
“Soniya provides the wireless operators a single platform from which to support and deploy new sensor-based and near real-time data streams from a variety of devices without having to deal with a separate service for each. Wireless operators are unlikely to want to support different services for a GPS-enabled phone, another service for a pet-tracker and yet another one for a car, even if there is a big enough market for each of them” said Eng Tan.
