What is
GSM?
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile communications:
It is the most widely used cellular phone system
around the world. GSM is a time division multiplex
(TDM) system. Implemented on 800, 900, 1800 and
1900 MHz frequency bands. Different countries may
use different frequency bnds. In USA for example,
1900 MHZ is used. Trimtrac is tri-band, meaning
it can be used in all countries where one of 900,
1800, 1900 MHZ frequency bands is available.

What is a SIM?
SIM is short for Subscriber Identity Module. It is a smart card
inside a GSM cell phone that encrypts voice and data transmissions
and stores data about the specific user so that the user can
be identified and authenticated to the network supplying telephone
service.

What is SMS?
SMS is short for Short Message Service. It is the cellular phone
text message service available on digital GSM networks. It
allows text messages of up to 160 characters to be sent and received
via the network operator's message center to your mobile device.
TrimTrac tracking device uses SMS as means to communicate the locations it
obtained to a tracking application

What is a GPS Tracking Device?
A GPS tracking device is a device to communicate with GPS satillate
and obtain a geographical location of its own. There are two
type of GPS Tracking device. Active one and passive one. An
actionve GPS tracking device can send its location obtained
to a tracking server, while an passive one can store the records
in local memory for uploading at later time.

What is a typical GPS tracking service?
A GPS trackiing service is a web based application that supports obtaining,
storing and retrieving real-time and historical gps data and support
translate the gps raw data into geo-address. If digital map data
is available, it can then display the gps data on the gigital map.

What are TrimTrac Unit ID and Password and How to set them up?
TrimTrac Unit ID (or Nickname) is used to identify TrimTrac device
you have together with TrimTrac password. The TrimTrac Unit ID
and Password need to be configuraed at the time you purchase
the device. If no configuration done, the default Unit ID 00000000
and the default Password 00000000 will be used. Customer buying
the TrimTrac unit from http://www.soniyatech.com/buy.htm will
have the chance to inter your desired Unit ID. The default UnitID/Nickname for
Device brought from http://www.soniyatech.com/buy.htm is
MYCAR01.

How long will the TrimTrac batteries last?
Using the default configuration, expected battery life for four
AA batteries is 38 calendar days, assuming good GPS and GSM coverage,
and two 1 hour trips each day.
To get 90 day battery life, one needs to turn off Extended Motion During
Delay while leaving all other settings at default.
OnDemand Polling is energy intensive and expected battery life drops
to 5 days. Actual life will vary depending upon often the network operator
requires the TrimTrac to re-register onto the network. Current assumption
is once every 20 minutes.

Is there an alternative power source for TrimTrac?
Trimble does offer a vehicle adapter module, allowing the TrimTrac
to use the vehicle power source. The adapter module is available
on our web side.

What do the flashing lights on a TrimTrac
unit mean?
Please reference Page 13 of the TrimTrac Technical Manual www.trimtrac.com
for information on the various lights and what they indicate.

What are the steps to make TrimTrac working in SoniyaMobile
Free GPS Service?
1). Buy a Trimtrac device in this website
2). Get A SIM card. Note that all Trimtrac sold in this website does come with a Free SIM having 200 tracking messages on it
3). Sign up with SoniyaMobile
Free GPS Service. If you buy a Trimtrac from this website, the onlice account would be created by Soniya tech support staff.
4). Add TrimTrack in Device Set up page. Where
you click Add button; and Select Vehicle and Trimtrac device from
menu and input Trimtrac's phone number, predetermined Unit ID and
Password; Finally, click Save.
5). Once you complete the registration you need
to put batteries into your TrimTrac, insert the SIM chip provided
by your cellular company, and close the TrimTrac.
6). Put the Trimtrack in an outdoor location, e.g. on top of
your car or in another location that has no obstructions between
the TrimTrac and the sky, shake the unit for about 20 seconds (which
usually results in a light flashing).
7). In Snap Shot
Page, Click the Last Status link on the left upper part, check
to see if a status message is received indicating battery status
and GPS location status. If there is such a message listed,
that means your Trimtrac is working and your can shake it again
or drive with it along to get it to send out locations.

How
to configure Trimtrac using SoniyaMobile Free Tracking Service?
1). Create a online tracking account
at http://service.soniyatech.com by
clicking "Sign Up" button 2).
Login to the account
3). Go to Device Setup page and
click "Add" button to add Trimtrac or device
4). Now you are at "Add /Edit
Device" Page. Please select
"Vehicle" in "Type" drop down menu; Select "Trimble
Trimtrac" in Device Model drop down menu; Enter the preconfigured
Trimtrac Unit ID (default value of MYCAR01 if you bought the
Trimtrac at Soniya's website or 00000000 if you bought Trimtrac
else where) in Nickname field; Enter Trimtrac phone number as "Phone
/IMSI No." field; Read the instruction nearby and click "Save"
5). Wait until Trimtrac Status
on "Device Setup" Page to become
"Active". If it is, then you are done. The Trimtrac
should start to send back location and status message which can
be accessed via Snapshot page or history page.
